Updated: Feb 22, 2023

Your Sonoma County vacation will undoubtedly be one to remember! Located just an hour north of San Francisco and west of Napa Valley, Sonoma County is made for wine and food lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and travelers seeking to relax among the redwoods and epic coastal views.

We’ve put together a 72-hour guide for those of you who are visiting Sonoma County for your next vacation. Here is just a glimpse of some of our favorite things to do in the area:

Day 1: Sleep in or grab brunch at Jeffrey’s Hillside Café. Also, take some time to relax, enjoy and explore the Bolton House. There’s a PlayStation 5, a record player with an extensive record collection that can connect to the whole house Sonos sound system, outdoor courtyard and gardens, backgammon, monopoly, and many more board games, plus a few books for the avid reader. Nearby shopping areas include downtown Santa Rosa, Montgomery Village, and the Sebastopol Barlow. End the day with a homemade feast at the Bolton House or explore some of our wonderful downtown restaurants and let someone else do the cooking!

Day 2: Drive the Pacific coastline out at Bodega Bay. Our Sonoma coast is filled with wonderful hiking trails, scenic stops, and great food! Don’t forget to marvel at the beautiful Saint Teresa of Avila Church which is featured in Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘The Birds.' For us, every visit to Bodega Bay involves a must-stop at the Fishetarian Fish Market, which features casual outdoor seaside dining and delivers a passion for sustainable fishing and delicious food. Another great spot is Cafe Aquatica in Jenner, CA, a gourmet cafe located on the waterfront. Enjoy fair trade coffee, tasty organic sandwiches, and live music on the weekends.

Day 3: Grab a coffee & pastry from one of The Pharmacy or Acre Coffee, and take a morning stroll through the gardens at the historical Luther Burbank Home & Gardens just down the street on Sonoma Ave. Stop in for lunch just around the corner at Rosso Pizzeria, featuring wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas that use fresh, simple, and local ingredients. Then pick any direction and you’ll have a scenic drive leading you to one of our region’s fantastic wine-tasting adventures.
